Wordless Wednesday

Mushroom Dump!

Figure I would just throw them all up at once. Now not only am I dating them, I am coloring coding them by location. The second one I was kicking myself because if I had went there a few days sooner, I would have had some species that I'd never seen before but they were black and dead when I got there.
The third place I was preoccupied with making sure I wasn't lost because I had never gone there before so I wasn't keeping a very good eye out for fungi. Next time I'll know where I am at/going so hopefully I'll spot more.

We are getting some nasty weather right now, lots of rain and thunderstorms that set the dogs to shaking. Last night was a mess waking up almost every hour because of loud thunder and the older dog unable to decide if he wanted to hide on the bed or not. Mean while the bull mastiff is trying to fit under a desk that wasn't big enough for her, poor babies :(

Dyed Fabric and More

I dyed three different pieces of Aida cloth and as simple as it is, I had a lot of fun. Each piece was left in the dye bath at different lengths of time because I wanted to see the difference, but I really wish I had left the third one in even longer as it came out spotty in a few places. Crossing my fingers the pattern I put on it will cover most of it up :D

Finished another little Pokemon cross stitch. I like these simple little guys because so far I finish them within a month and easy to switch to if I need a break from another project.

We decided to pick all the onions that were left in the garden because they were either sitting on top or we noticed some looked like something was after them, so we hauled them all up. (didn't want them to get rot) Most will go to good homes and the rest will help me make soups, salads, and whatever anyone fancies. They made the whole house smell oddly like chili :D

I think I am going to go and make myself work on a drawing today, haven't really been doing a lot of that :(

A Busy Spring

Spring is with out a doubt, my favorite time of the year. All the beautiful flowers come out, the sun comes out and everything is just gorgeous. This spring has been just as delightful so far and I have been spending more time outdoors, trying my hand at gardening. When others talked about it, it didn't interest me and I had no motivation to try it myself. The grocery store had packs of bulbs for real cheap this year, and I had a large empty pot, soooo I decided to give it a go and bought some Asiatic Lily bulbs and I kept going after that!

The first one has four bulbs planted and I was so excited when these two poked out and now are growing like crazy! The second one has two, and the sprout there just came up the other day, so waiting on three more!

These three pots are from a packet of seeds that was labeled "Old Fashion Garden Mix". There is suppose to be nineteen different types of plants in the mix. At first I tried thinning them out but gave up, I'm just going to let it go and see what happens :/

I also have a pot of Lobelia or "crystal palace" but nothing has come up yet and a picture of a pot of dirt isn't very exciting. Then there is another pot of "Giraffe" Lilies that was only planted a week ago so that's another pot of dirt. I think I just liked playing with dirt!

The guys dug up and planted this vegetable garden that is 10'x20' with tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, butter squash, cabbage, onions, and potatoes. That will be good eating when it is all ready.
We got a hold of an old tractor tire and I am currently spray painting it white so that it can become a planter as well. That's just going to get some annuals which I will probably wind up killing within a week. The black thumb has to come out eventual the way I see it.

I finally got a Moon Cactus, I have always loved the red ones. The Coral Cactus was something my Dad brought home as a surprise. I had never seen one before and he thought I would like it; I love it!
Hopefully the next time I post something about my plants, it will be when my lilies bloom :)

Easter Lily

For those who participate in Easter, I hope you had a wonderful day and better weather then I did. I really wish it would warm up!
Just wanted to share a picture of the beautiful Easter Lily I got for Easter, it makes the kitchen smell wonderful. ^_^

Park Trip

A few weeks ago I had went to the park again (haven't been back since sadly). It was then that I took pictures of all those mushrooms. I couldn't believe all those different types of mushrooms!! I was in my glory :D But here are a few other things I managed to snap when I was going "Oh and another mushroom over there!!"

Oh and some random caterpillars I found in my yard, they got thrown over the fence in case the dog tried to stick his nose on one and get stung.

I really like using the macro setting on the camera :)

Mushroom Monday

Down The Trail

Even though there is a lot of humanly intruding on nature more and more these days, we have thankfully set aside places that it can still exist. The trails there run through a few parks, connecting them together if you were to walk all twelve miles of the trail. Seabrook Texas is a bird sanctuary with a pelican release program that, when they get an injured pelican and go to put them back in the wild, this is where they do it. These are just a few things I saw my first day I went down the trail and only went half a mile one way.

Of course with LOTS of rain comes my favorite photo shoot pieces...the mushrooms!

There was a little hill off the path that at the top, someone had laid corn down for the animals to come snack on. Never seen these two animals together before...

After I turned around and was coming back down, I thought I would be clever and sneak up the hill to see if the little critters and birds came back. I got something much more this time around..

I swear we both stood there for a good minute or three just staring at each other without moving. Then I realized I should try to bring the camera up for a shot, she was only about ten, fifteen feet away from me and it was literally breath taking!
