Bird Finished At Last

Sweet everything on this planet, I finally finished it!!! The feathers are terrible, I even cut part of it off because I had messed them up so bad. Also, I finally found out that using masking tape to remove pencil does work on this paper, it was a HUGE life saver. Well sort of I guess. I didn't want to abandon this, just took me awhile to finally quit dreading the inevitable and just do it. If I ever get the urge to do a bird again, it will be awhile, and I will definitely do a feather study first.

That Stuff

Ever had a really frustrating day and just need to revert to the basics a bit, I did on Tuesday:

I was pretty upset that day and making this helped a lot, it's time for me to look for another job. :(

On another hand, who took my 2H pencil?! Oddly I have a bunch of 2B and that isn't helping me right now :D

It Started With Dragons

Humans are usually inspired by something when they choose to start down a path, I was no exception when I started drawing. My Nana might have been the small start to it, but the big spark came when I fell madly in love with dragons. I would see them on book covers, statues, t-shirts, television; anywhere really and I couldn't help but be in total awe of them. At the age of ten I struggled with the knowledge that they weren't real, how could something so cool not be real?! I wanted them to be real, I started reading as many books as I could about them or just with them in them.

At this point I am only slightly interested in drawing, I've drawn a few cutesy little things for relatives and done some epic tracing in books, but nothing serious. It wasn't until I was twelve that I decided it was time to try to master it, especially in the area of dragons. My first dragon I drew happened one night with a lot of trepidation; could I do this? Was it going to turn out? If I couldn't do this would I keep trying?! When you see it, you may guess which book cover it is from ;)

Anne McCaffrey's dragons were a huge inspiration and when I finished this (without tracing which I think is obvious) I felt it was a HUGE success, so I kept drawing dragons. At first I just looked at other peoples art and drew it, but I eventual strayed away from copying and made my own dragons.

As silly as it may sound, to this day I still dream that they are real. My only consolation to this is that the dragon is one of the oldest 'monsters' in history and myth, spanning over different cultures that hadn't met at the times. So I still carry the small hope that they are out there somewhere, only reachable to us through art, books, video games, how ever we may see them.

Vacation Recap

Happy 2013 everyone! I hope everyone is doing well and had a wonderful holiday season. I've been back for over a week now but I was launched into a crazy busy schedule right after I came back and things are coming back to 'normal' now.

My 'vacation' was a good way to clear my head and shake off all the frustrations I was dealing with at work in preparation for the holidays, but am I glad to be back!
Not much happened while I was in Texas, we went to the zoo and spent most days trying not to go shopping and become broke. I have some pictures from the zoo but I still need to upload them to the computer...I just don't feel like going through them yet, lazy; I know.

I took my current cross-stitch project with me and got a huge chunk of it done.

It's about half done and I probably won't work on it for awhile as it's mostly what I did for those three weeks. I love that face though!

As always, I have so many ideas running rampant in my head that if I started any of them I would have five projects going on at once.
Right now though my new time killer is watching "Doctor Who", that show is addicting and Netflix has all six seasons. That is 86 episodes. So you know where I'll be.
