So from now on I will be posting HERE.
Hope to see you there ^_^
So from now on I will be posting HERE.
Hope to see you there ^_^
You know, I had wanted to do several things today, but I got derailed, by thread. Wal-mart had these large kits on clearance for a third of their original price. So I grab the two left thinking hell yes that is a lot of fabric and thread I can salvage and just toss the stupid pattern. This is what the package looks like before you open it:
Okay, no big deal, the thread looks jumbled but maybe they are separated by a thread card in there somewhere.Nope.
It really was a giant rolled up, tangled wad of thread. It took me three freaking hours to separate the colors and then looking at them and the list for the chart I had no idea who was what color because some of them were to close together. Honestly, I hope no one picked one of these kits up who was a beginner and totally lost interest in the craft because of this crap. That would make me really sad because it wouldn't have been hard for the makers of the kit to organize the thread before cramming it in the package.
So after dinner maybe I can at least start on a new project, just have to decide which wants my attention more; drawing or another cross stitch :)
I started the back stitch on the cat and duckling but got as far as the cats head and most of the duck before needing to put it down. I get frustrated when I do some of it and I can't see it so why the hell do they have it there?! But I will probably pick it up and finish sometime this week, faithfully doing every stitch they show and calling them jackasses the whole time :D
Oddly it was work that gave me this idea.
The visual display for the one brand of bathing suits had framed pictures of seahorse paintings and other ocean related goodies. I have looked at it many many times since the beginning of spring and this time it just clicked. I want to draw a seahorse! So yeah, seahorse :)I am actually surprised I made it to the end of SOC, it was fun, I learned something, got to see a lot of neat ideas and I hope we get to do it again next year!
I get to work next week which means I probably won't post at all or only once. SO yeah back to regular schedule :)
Coral, Teal, and White were my palette colors, coral is hard to get with markers, I know it looks more peachy orange then coral (probably because I did use peach).
I giggle every time I look at the back horn, looks like its about to slide off the poor things head :D
You have posted everyday this week, what is going on?!
No work, all week. I really hate how slow summers are, August needs to hurry up and get here so I can WORK. Because next week, no work all week AGAIN. So I might try to post Mon.-Fri. again.
So here is something slightly amusing. I am using Prismacolor markers for the main bits, the black outline is actually Prismacolor ink pens, and for the longest time I only used Prismacolor pencils. Yeah just call me the Prismacolor poster child! But seriously, those ink pens are awesome ^_^
Speaking of tattoos on skin here is the one I got last month, I apologize for the blurriness but person with camera doesn't have very steady hands :)
I designed it, the tattooist suggested the detailing as I had the design plain. I liked it so bam here it is on my right shoulder.Looks like a funny little blob right now but when it is done it will be a kitten and duckling duo. Found it for 60% off at the craft store and was like yes please! The only regret will be when I have to do the large amount of back stitching at the end :/
Figure I would just throw them all up at once. Now not only am I dating them, I am coloring coding them by location. The second one I was kicking myself because if I had went there a few days sooner, I would have had some species that I'd never seen before but they were black and dead when I got there.
The third place I was preoccupied with making sure I wasn't lost because I had never gone there before so I wasn't keeping a very good eye out for fungi. Next time I'll know where I am at/going so hopefully I'll spot more.
We are getting some nasty weather right now, lots of rain and thunderstorms that set the dogs to shaking. Last night was a mess waking up almost every hour because of loud thunder and the older dog unable to decide if he wanted to hide on the bed or not. Mean while the bull mastiff is trying to fit under a desk that wasn't big enough for her, poor babies :(
One of my Flight Rising dragons, Linna. She is a first generation lucky hatch that I have proudly added Genes to. The background is actually the markings that are on her wings.
There are a lot of mess ups on this and I know what mistakes I made but I left it go as a visual reminder what not to do next time. Think I'm going to be waiting a while before doing another color surfaced piece as the blue was really throwing me off when trying to get my colors right.
Put them together as one image and dated it so that I know when and who. I couldn't remember when the best time of year was to look so maybe this year if I do this it will be easier in the future.
Shhhh don't tell anyone but I started a drawing! We shall say no more in fear of jinxing self and not being able to finish it and we want to finish it!! :)
I am super excited that it now has a full face. Canvas wise I am half way done but stitch count wise I probably am not because the bottom half is fuller then the top. It is also possible for me to say I am done but it would bug me knowing there was more and didn't do it.
So I'll do it.
The lighting in my house is terrible for photos, when it isn't raining out (like it is now) I will have to take the next picture then so you can really see and appreciate the lovely copper color of this fabric. It breaks my heart knowing they don't make them shimmery like this anymore (that I have seen). This is the guy that it will turn into:
It is a 12in x 18in. sooo it might take me a bit :D
This will be the last Biscornu for a while as I have to save up discarded thread ends for stuffing. The hubby had wanted me to make the first one I made with this pattern blue. Really I just wanted to play with that brighter blue thread :D
Very close to a fourth of the way done. I really like how the pattern was made for the ocelot as the colors do seem to blend very well. It just makes me that much more excited to see it finished.
I've had dragons on the brain lately (pffft please, when do I not?!) and I have a pattern made and ready for another tribal/silhouette dragon. I can't wait to start on it so I can take a picture of the cloth as it is an interesting burnt copper color ^_^
It didn't take long for me to break down and start my next cross stitch piece. This one is going to be a 8in x 10in and I am in no hurry to get it done. Definitely taking my time on this one after pushing myself so hard on the last one.
The weather is unpleasantly cold right now. We received two inches of snow, people acted like it was something totally new and now it is a toasty 8 degrees out. Been hiding under the blankets most of the day :D Come on spring!!
Some part of me wants to take a break from cross stitching and then there is the part that is saying "Look at all these patterns, come on!!" We'll see what happens I guess.
