In A Knot

I am forever wanting to try new crafts whether it be beading or paper. I have to watch myself though because I will get in a habit of buy things for a project later, but never getting to that project or only having half the things I need. I now forbid myself to buy any more beads or string as I have a bunch of each and some of them not even open.
I randomly remembered this past week that I had hemp cord and had tried making necklaces with it but the beads I had gotten, the holes were to small. So I tried again this morning with different beads.

It came out really lopsided and to short. The knotting is right at least and even through out. Just have to work on the different lengths of the cords. It takes very long pieces to get a decent size necklace out of it , but so long as I don't repeat the sequence in my head I'm alright. Over, under, over, under, over....knot!

Distractions

Out of guilt I felt like posting about what I'm -not- doing which is getting a lot of drawing done. I'm going through one of my hardcore gaming phases, so for a while I'm going to be a handheld gaming geek.
I do have my next project lined up which is a birthday card for my Dad. Hopefully it won't turn out too bad and I'll have it done before the first week of September.
After that I want to do a Chinese zodiac and then maybe go back to my horses. We shall see...or not...which ever way it goes.

Houston Zoo Part 3

I couldn't believe how many giraffes they had there, eight all together. Pittsburgh Zoo only has two. Of course I couldn't get enough of the "little" one there.

This guy must have been very hungry. the leaf he was going after was still an inch away from his long tongue.

A nice statue to end the giraffe area.

At the reptile house, the big star was this amazing Albino American Alligator. I bet I will never see another one again!

We stopped by the sea lions while they were performing their show. It is fun watching how graceful they are in the water.

We ended our trip with the Aquarium. To me the neatest part were the two types of jelly fish they had.

Houston Zoo Part 2

It was a very hot day the day we went to the zoo. Naturally the animals wanted to try to stay cool so...

I couldn't believe the size of the horns on these Ankole-Watusi Cattle!

A nice statue out of a few that were there.

There were all kinds of mother and baby pairs this year it seemed :)

Anyone want to go to Turtle Island? Might not be able to land as it seems to be packed right now...

I think these two were trying to tell each other something...

I Had a Vacation

I came back from vacation last weekend and spent the past week being sick and catching back up on life. I had went to Texas to visit my Dad and of course while I was down there I went to the one place I can never get enough of, the Zoo! I had taken a lot of pictures (130 of them) and picked out a few to share about my zoo adventure. It will be broken up in three posts over the weekend to spare you. :P

On a quick side note, went to Galveston Island the day before the zoo trip and didn't think to take pictures the entire time until right before we left and I saw these flowers. Way to go, right?

Our first animal at the zoo was this lovely Kimono Dragon. They are huge.

After the giant lizard, I had to go straight to the elephants. Houston has Asian Elephants, and this mother was trying to hide her 'tiny' baby. As you can see I had to peek through the bushes to see this adorable wonder.

There were a lot of birds at the zoo. This unlabeled swan was one of them.

Another large animal in the wild kingdom, the Rhinoceros.

There was a long pool almost in the center of the zoo. In the middle of the pool was this awesome statue of a lioness after her prey.
