Blog Move

After thinking about it for quite a while, I made the decision to move my blog over to Tumblr. Blogger just isn't doing it for me, and a lot of the time I feel like I am going to a corner of the internet like I was bad. Will I still visit those I follow here, of course!

So from now on I will be posting HERE.

Hope to see you there ^_^

Stitch Along Week 2

That little goldish bit, that's it for week two. I believe week three is small as well but with two colors, if I remember correctly :)
Stared a new cross stitch. I wanted to cry last night when I realized I messed up BIG and had to frog out A LOT of stitching. I made a point of undoing all the mistake before going to bed because I knew if I left it, I wouldn't go back to it, I was so disgusted with myself. It's all good now so continue I shall!

Furry Friends Finished

Haha! I have conquered the back stitching! I even learned how to do a proper french knot! Now I better not see anymore of this for the rest of the year :D

You know, I had wanted to do several things today, but I got derailed, by thread. Wal-mart had these large kits on clearance for a third of their original price. So I grab the two left thinking hell yes that is a lot of fabric and thread I can salvage and just toss the stupid pattern. This is what the package looks like before you open it:

Okay, no big deal, the thread looks jumbled but maybe they are separated by a thread card in there somewhere.

Nope.

It really was a giant rolled up, tangled wad of thread. It took me three freaking hours to separate the colors and then looking at them and the list for the chart I had no idea who was what color because some of them were to close together. Honestly, I hope no one picked one of these kits up who was a beginner and totally lost interest in the craft because of this crap. That would make me really sad because it wouldn't have been hard for the makers of the kit to organize the thread before cramming it in the package.

So after dinner maybe I can at least start on a new project, just have to decide which wants my attention more; drawing or another cross stitch :)

Butterfly Done

I had till the end of October to finish this but I was determined to get it done. When it comes to deadlines I guess I just like to get it done and out of the way.

I started the back stitch on the cat and duckling but got as far as the cats head and most of the duck before needing to put it down. I get frustrated when I do some of it and I can't see it so why the hell do they have it there?! But I will probably pick it up and finish sometime this week, faithfully doing every stitch they show and calling them jackasses the whole time :D

Stitch Along Week One Finished

I only worked one day this week so I plugged away at this and nothing else. It is a little over 1100 stitches and really wasn't meant to be finished in a week as the next week is a "catch up week" with very few stitches for the next color. It is a surprise what it is going to be, so I keep trying to figure it out but I have no idea with so little in.

Teacup Progress And Something New

I plugged away at this, this past weekend. Even my husband was shocked how much I did.
Started another pieces as well. This is for a Stitch Along and this week is week one. I am now breaking my own rule and have FOUR projects going on at once. Insert cheesy saying about rules here :D

Now For The Back Stitching

This is one of those pieces that I will admit the back stitching is necessary. That doesn't mean I have to like it. Some of it won't be so bad, it's just when I get the faces that it gets harder. I will try very hard this time not to get sloppy or impatient, make it good practice for later since this one is going on my wall.

New Cross Stitch

I put my Ocelot aside for a bit and started working on this. Since the Ocelot is a personal piece, I had to remind myself that it doesn't need to be finished right away. So I started on this piece that is for a contest. Stitching Pirates on DeviantArt run contests through out the year and I decided to give it a go. Butterflies are beautiful and I like them but can't ever find a reason to include them into a piece of art. Also, beads. I like beads, now I have an excuse to put them in a cross stitch piece ^_^

Seahorse Edition

So this weeks Summer of Color had me stumped at first. I could not think of anything that I liked with two oranges and a blue. I didn't want to do a dragon, and an orange and blueberry sounded silly :D

Oddly it was work that gave me this idea.

The visual display for the one brand of bathing suits had framed pictures of seahorse paintings and other ocean related goodies. I have looked at it many many times since the beginning of spring and this time it just clicked. I want to draw a seahorse! So yeah, seahorse :)

I am actually surprised I made it to the end of SOC, it was fun, I learned something, got to see a lot of neat ideas and I hope we get to do it again next year!

Greens and Pink

So I'm hungry for watermelon and this weeks Summer of Color really didn't help with that, lol. I seriously think I'm going to pick up a watermelon after work tomorrow even though I have to eat it by myself -.-

Cross Stitch Progress

Even though I didn't get to work again this week, it wasn't so bad. I got to walk the dogs almost everyday and visit my husband's niece and her step mom who was amazing and gave me all her cross stitch goodies. My cross stitch hoard is amazing and ALL MINE!
I really can't wait to finish the blob with the ducky, it's the cat's belly but right now it looks like nothing. Seriously not taking another progress shot of this piece till I am about to do the back stitching.
I don't see the progress on this one till I compare it to the previous progress shot. I originally was going to take my time on this one but I already know what my next big project is going to be and I can't wait so I'm pushing on this now. I will only let myself work on two cross stitch pieces at once because I know I won't finish them if I keep starting new ones :D

I get to work next week which means I probably won't post at all or only once. SO yeah back to regular schedule :)

Reds and Gold

This one was a blast to work on! After all this time I got my gold metallic pen to work! Was so excited it didn't crap out on me either ^_^ I probably should have picked a darker red for the second red but I didn't want to risk messing with it too much and then hating it.

Wordless Wednesday

Baby Triceratops

Jurassic World, this is all your fault :D Partially anyway, I have been wanting to draw a dinosaur for awhile.

Coral, Teal, and White were my palette colors, coral is hard to get with markers, I know it looks more peachy orange then coral (probably because I did use peach).

I giggle every time I look at the back horn, looks like its about to slide off the poor things head :D

Cross Stitch Progress

I'm trying a different method, instead of sticking to a spot and working out from it, I am now sticking to one color as much as I can do in the part I have framed. It just may be going a little faster that way. Only problem with that is if there is a lot of the color (like there was with the black and white) I start to go a little crazy and antsy to work on another color. I honestly don't know why.
Look at the cute ducky blob! Besides it being on sale I think I got this cause of that darn cute duckling!

You have posted everyday this week, what is going on?!
No work, all week. I really hate how slow summers are, August needs to hurry up and get here so I can WORK. Because next week, no work all week AGAIN. So I might try to post Mon.-Fri. again.

Aqua, Yellow, Pink

Because those are the colors I was following :D
I am definitely scanning this tomorrow because the colors aren't showing to well but I am so darn pleased with this first attempt. Three colors but seven markers since the color palette isn't as strict as the last three. ACEO size seems to work quite well so I don't know if I'll try anything larger. Maybe later...like way later :D

So here is something slightly amusing. I am using Prismacolor markers for the main bits, the black outline is actually Prismacolor ink pens, and for the longest time I only used Prismacolor pencils. Yeah just call me the Prismacolor poster child! But seriously, those ink pens are awesome ^_^

Eye See You

So, this is suppose to be a flamingo eye. I wanted to try something real and I really don't care for it. If I was going to do a bird I guess it wasn't the best choice for a close up :D
Another dragon eye, this will make the last eye. I was getting bored on this one and really not trying to put much effort into it. Think I'm going to "zoom out" and do full heads now as I still experiment with the markers. I really should try this out with water color pencils too...

Playing With Markers

Figured it has been awhile since I messed with prisma markers and when I did I never really tried to do anything great with them. So thought it was time to drag them back out and see what I could do. Starting off small, I only used three colors for this, I think I'm going to follow the color schemes for the Summer of Colors deal to play around with.

Tattoo Ideas #1

Title is an indication that there may be more ideas in the future. That is without a doubt.
So the theme for this round of tattoos is Moon and Sun. I started with the hubby's moon first because I wasn't sure how many ideas I was going to have to throw at him before he pounced on one. Imagine my surprise when round one (with four to look at) was all the further I had to go.
These two were turned down because he knew I wouldn't want to match my sun to something like them (thank goodness!) Don't get me wrong, I like skulls but I don't love them like he does.
So I am throwing them out here for others to enjoy or get an idea off of. I won't be showing the one he chose till it is inked onto his skin :)Unfortunately that's going to be awhile :D

Speaking of tattoos on skin here is the one I got last month, I apologize for the blurriness but person with camera doesn't have very steady hands :)

I designed it, the tattooist suggested the detailing as I had the design plain. I liked it so bam here it is on my right shoulder.

New Small Piece

Looks like a funny little blob right now but when it is done it will be a kitten and duckling duo. Found it for 60% off at the craft store and was like yes please! The only regret will be when I have to do the large amount of back stitching at the end :/

Mushroom Dump!

Figure I would just throw them all up at once. Now not only am I dating them, I am coloring coding them by location. The second one I was kicking myself because if I had went there a few days sooner, I would have had some species that I'd never seen before but they were black and dead when I got there.
The third place I was preoccupied with making sure I wasn't lost because I had never gone there before so I wasn't keeping a very good eye out for fungi. Next time I'll know where I am at/going so hopefully I'll spot more.

We are getting some nasty weather right now, lots of rain and thunderstorms that set the dogs to shaking. Last night was a mess waking up almost every hour because of loud thunder and the older dog unable to decide if he wanted to hide on the bed or not. Mean while the bull mastiff is trying to fit under a desk that wasn't big enough for her, poor babies :(

Small Cross Stitch

Only took me a little under two weeks as it is a little 6in x 6in. Debating if I want to hang it up or not.

FR Dragon

"Linna"
8.5in x 8.5in
Derwent colorsoft pencils on mat board

One of my Flight Rising dragons, Linna. She is a first generation lucky hatch that I have proudly added Genes to. The background is actually the markings that are on her wings.

There are a lot of mess ups on this and I know what mistakes I made but I left it go as a visual reminder what not to do next time. Think I'm going to be waiting a while before doing another color surfaced piece as the blue was really throwing me off when trying to get my colors right.

Mushrooms!

Went to the park yesterday and hit the 4 mile trail that winds through so many acres of woods. I didn't think I was going to see anything but I kept looking and sure enough they started showing up here and there ^_^
(click for biggy)

Put them together as one image and dated it so that I know when and who. I couldn't remember when the best time of year was to look so maybe this year if I do this it will be easier in the future.

Guardian Dragon Cross Stitch

It's finished! I decided I don't care if I can't get the real color of the fabric to show, so long as you can see this beast is done. I think I may have found more of the fabric on Ebay buuut I didn't pursue it; I would probably drive myself crazy trying to find another subject that would look good on it.

Shhhh don't tell anyone but I started a drawing! We shall say no more in fear of jinxing self and not being able to finish it and we want to finish it!! :)

Amaryllis

For Christmas I got my Dad two Amaryllis growing kits; one red and one pink. The red one shot up like a champ with it's stalk and all and the pink one still has no stalk, just leaves. I'm starting to wonder if it is a dud.
When my Nana was alive she loved giving everyone Amaryllis plants for Christmas. They are a pretty hardy plant and will multiple like crazy if you let them but she loved them and always shared that with us. I am hoping if we decide to transplant them to the ground, they can survive the bitter winters here because I know if they do then we will have a bunch of them in a few years. I think if my Nana wanted something that reminded us of her, she would have definitely wanted it to be these flowers :)

Spot the Ocelot?

Okay I wouldn't really name it Spot but that was the only thing that popped into my head for a title :D

I am super excited that it now has a full face. Canvas wise I am half way done but stitch count wise I probably am not because the bottom half is fuller then the top. It is also possible for me to say I am done but it would bug me knowing there was more and didn't do it.
So I'll do it.

Dragon WIP

I want to say it was about two weeks ago I took my dragon cross stitch outside on a sunny day to get a picture. This did not help bring out the copper fabric at all.
I think it looks horrid there. So the other day I tried lighting in a different room and got this:
Next I am going to stick it in the blasted scanner and see what happens. There is no win with this fabric and this recent photo may be the closest you'll be able to tell it's color.

Dragon Cross Stitch

The lighting in my house is terrible for photos, when it isn't raining out (like it is now) I will have to take the next picture then so you can really see and appreciate the lovely copper color of this fabric. It breaks my heart knowing they don't make them shimmery like this anymore (that I have seen). This is the guy that it will turn into:

It is a 12in x 18in. sooo it might take me a bit :D

Blue Swirls

This will be the last Biscornu for a while as I have to save up discarded thread ends for stuffing. The hubby had wanted me to make the first one I made with this pattern blue. Really I just wanted to play with that brighter blue thread :D

Ocelot Progress

Very close to a fourth of the way done. I really like how the pattern was made for the ocelot as the colors do seem to blend very well. It just makes me that much more excited to see it finished.

I've had dragons on the brain lately (pffft please, when do I not?!) and I have a pattern made and ready for another tribal/silhouette dragon. I can't wait to start on it so I can take a picture of the cloth as it is an interesting burnt copper color ^_^

Biscornu For You

I have been meaning to post this for awhile now and just kept pushing it off/forgetting :( So here is another biscornu I have made
I really find them addicting, especially when I try to make up my own pattern. It also gives me something to use the left over ends of thread from cross stitching. Instead of throwing all that string out, I save enough of it up and I can stuff one of these little guys. I even already have the next biscornu pieces patterned, just waiting for a little more stuffing :)

It Begins!

It didn't take long for me to break down and start my next cross stitch piece. This one is going to be a 8in x 10in and I am in no hurry to get it done. Definitely taking my time on this one after pushing myself so hard on the last one.

The weather is unpleasantly cold right now. We received two inches of snow, people acted like it was something totally new and now it is a toasty 8 degrees out. Been hiding under the blankets most of the day :D Come on spring!!

Happy New Year!

Another year down, hopefully lots and lots more to go! I am very happy and relieved to say that I managed to finish my cross stitch piece in time!!
It still needs ironed and framed but that will all come in time. You can see where my circle went wonky...I'm going with it adds personality :D

Some part of me wants to take a break from cross stitching and then there is the part that is saying "Look at all these patterns, come on!!" We'll see what happens I guess.
